Constantino “Tino” Martinez is a former professional baseball first baseman who played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for 16 seasons, from 1990 to 2005.
Martinez played for the Seattle Mariners (1990-1995), New York Yankees (1996-2001, 2005), St. Louis Cardinals (2002-2003), and Tampa Bay Devil Rays (2004).
He is most well-known for his time with the Yankees, where he was a key member of a dynasty that won four World Series championships in five seasons: 1996, 1998, 1999, and 2000. He was also honored with a plaque in Monument Park at Yankee Stadium.
Martinez was a two-time MLB All-Star (1995, 1997), a Silver Slugger Award winner in 1997 and he won the Home Run Derby in 1997. As an amateur, Martinez was a member of the United States baseball team that won a gold medal at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea.
After his playing career, Martinez served as a special assistant for the Yankees and a hitting coach for the Miami Marlins.
