Did You Know?  After coming over from San Diego in a standard mid-season trade in 2003, Bay completely took over the National League in 2004. Despite missing the first month of the regular season while recovering from surgery on his right shoulder, he put together a spectacular, historic debut.

Bay hit a blistering .282 while hammering 26 home runs and driving in 82 runs, pairing a massive .550 slugging percentage with a great .358 on-base mark. His overwhelming combination of raw power and mid-season consistency earned him a landslide victory for the 2004 National League Rookie of the Year Award—making him the first Canadian-born player in Major League Baseball history to claim the prestigious honor.
