Gregg Jefferies was a professional baseball infielder and outfielder who played in Major League Baseball for 14 seasons, from 1987 to 2000. Drafted by the New York Mets in the first round of the 1985 amateur draft, he was a highly regarded prospect. Jefferies was the first two-time winner of the Baseball America Minor League Player of the Year Award, winning in both 1986 and 1987. He made his MLB debut with the Mets in 1987 at the age of 19.
Throughout his career, Jefferies played for six different teams: New York Mets (1987–1991), Kansas City Royals (1992), St. Louis Cardinals (1993–1994), Philadelphia Phillies (1995–1998), Anaheim Angels (1998) and Detroit Tigers (1999–2000).
After his playing career, Jefferies became a hitting instructor and opened his own sports academy.
