Michael Brian Young was a highly durable and consistent professional baseball infielder who played 14 seasons in MLB (2000–2013), becoming a franchise cornerstone for the Texas Rangers.
His No. 10 jersey has been retired by the team, and he is a member of the Texas Rangers Hall of Fame. Young was a perennial All-Star selection (2004–2009, 2011), playing at five different positions throughout his career (Second Base, Shortstop, Third Base, Designated Hitter, and Utility). He won the AL batting title with a .331 average and led MLB with 221 hits that season. He won the 2008 Gold Glove Award at shortstop and was the 2006 MLB All-Star Game MVP after hitting a game-winning two-run triple in the 9th inning. He also won the Marvin Miller Award twice (2008, 2011) for his on-field performance and community contributions.
