Roger Clemens, nicknamed “Rocket,” was a dominant pitcher in Major League Baseball for 24 seasons (1984-2007). He is widely considered one of the most successful pitchers in the history of the sport.
He started his career with the Red Sox and became a franchise icon, winning three of his Cy Young Awards with the team. In 1986, he won the American League MVP award and set an MLB record by striking out 20 batters in a single game. He won two more Cy Young Awards with the Blue Jays, earning the Triple Crown (leading the league in wins, ERA, and strikeouts) in both 1997 and 1998. With the Yankees, Clemens won two World Series championships in 1999 and 2000. He also won another Cy Young Award in 2001.
In his later career, he played for his hometown Astros, winning his final Cy Young Award in 2004.
Due to his debut in 1984, Roger Clemens has several rookie cards from both 1984 and 1985 sets.
