Will Clark, nicknamed “Will the Thrill,” was a professional baseball first baseman who played in Major League Baseball (MLB) from 1986 to 2000. He was known for his left-handed swing and was a key player for several teams during his career.
He made his debut in 1986 and played with the Giants for eight seasons. During this time, he was a five-time All-Star, won two Silver Slugger Awards, a Gold Glove Award, and was named the National League Championship Series MVP in 1989. In 1990, he signed a four-year, $15 million contract with the Giants, making him the highest-paid player in the majors at the time.
After his time with the Giants, Clark played for the Texas Rangers (1994-1998), where he earned his sixth All-Star selection. He then played for the Baltimore Orioles and finished his career with the St. Louis Cardinals in 2000, where he helped them advance to the postseason.
Before his professional career, Clark was a standout college player at Mississippi State University, where he won the Golden Spikes Award in 1985 as the top amateur baseball player in the nation. He also played for the U.S. Olympic baseball team in 1984.
