Pedro Guerrero was one of the most naturally gifted, fearsome right-handed hitters of the 1980s. A multi-positional star who divided his peak years between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the St. Louis Cardinals, Guerrero possessed lightning-fast bat speed that allowed him to hit for both immense power and high averages.
While his defensive home rotated constantly between third base, first base, and the outfield corners, his bat was an absolute fixture in the heart of National League lineups for over a decade.
1981 World Series Co-MVP: Guerrero achieved national stardom during the 1981 Fall Classic against the New York Yankees. He blasted two home runs and drove in five runs in the decisive Game 6, sharing World Series MVP honors with teammates Ron Cey and Steve Yeager.
The 1985 Offensive Masterpiece: His absolute statistical peak came in 1985 with the Dodgers. He batted .320 and tied a franchise record by launching 15 home runs in the month of June alone. He finished the year leading the National League in On-Base Percentage (.422), Slugging Percentage (.543), and OPS (.965), placing third in NL MVP voting.
The St. Louis Renaissance: Traded to the Cardinals in 1988 for pitcher John Tudor, Guerrero instantly reestablished himself as an elite run producer. In 1989, he hit .311 with 42 doubles and 117 RBIs, carrying the Cardinals’ offense and finishing as the runner-up to Kevin Mitchell for the NL MVP.
Pedro Guerrero, shares this “Dodgers Prospects” multi-player rookie card with Rudy Law and Joe Simpson.

Did You Know? In 1985, Guerrero put together an offensive stretch so blindingly hot it matched a record held by legendary Yankee slugger Babe Ruth. Over 20-plus days in June, Pedro went on an absolute tear, treating National League pitching like batting practice. He blasted 15 home runs in the month of June alone, tying the major league record for the most home runs ever hit in that specific calendar month. The absurd power display helped him finish the 1985 campaign leading the majors in on-base percentage (.422), slugging percentage (.577), and OPS (1.000).
