Lloyd Moseby, nicknamed “Shaker,” was a dynamic center fielder best known for his decade-long tenure with the Toronto Blue Jays (1980–1989). Drafted second overall in 1978, he became a cornerstone of the franchise during its rise to contention in the 1980s.
- Toronto Blue Jays (1980–1989): Moseby was part of the legendary “Killer B’s” outfield alongside George Bell and Jesse Barfield.
- Detroit Tigers (1990–1991): He played two seasons in Detroit before moving to international play.
- Yomiuri Giants (1992–1993): He concluded his professional career playing two seasons in Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB).
In his breakout season, he batted .315 and became the first Blue Jay to score 100 runs in a single season winning him a Silver Slugger Award in 1983. Moseby led the American League in triples (15) in 1984 and recorded back-to-back seasons with over 20 home runs and 30 stolen bases (1986–1987).
He was inducted into the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame in 2018 for his contributions to the sport in Canada.
After retiring, Moseby remained active in baseball, serving as a coach for the Blue Jays in the late 90s and later as a team ambassador.
