Drafted by the Kansas City Royals in the 11th round of the 1983 MLB Draft out of Eastern Illinois University, Kevin Seitzer quickly established himself as one of the purest line-drive visual hitters and high-OBP third basemen of late-1980s and 1990s baseball.
Best remembered for his sensational 1987 rookie campaign, durability, and eventual transition into an elite Major League hitting coach, Seitzer played 12 Big League seasons (1986–1997) across stints with the Royals, Brewers, Athletics, and Indians. Over 1,439 career games, he amassed 1,557 hits and a .295 lifetime batting average.
1987 Monster Debut: Finished 2nd in American League Rookie of the Year voting (behind teammate Mark McGwire) after leading the AL in hits (207) and plate appearances (725). He posted a .323 AVG with 15 HRs, 83 RBIs, and an incredible .399 OBP, earning his first All-Star nod.
6-Hit Game Feat (August 2, 1987): Became one of the rare players in modern MLB history to go 6-for-6 in a 9-inning game (against the Boston Red Sox), smashing two home runs, driving in seven, and scoring five runs.
1995 Comeback All-Star: Re-emerged as an offensive powerhouse with the Milwaukee Brewers in 1995, batting .311 and earning his second career All-Star selection at age 33.
1997 World Series Appearance: Provided crucial veteran bench depth and contact hitting for the Cleveland Indians during their 1997 American League Pennant run.
