Ichiro Suzuki, also known popularly by “Ichiro”, is a Japanese former professional baseball outfielder. He played for Major League Baseball (MLB) teams including Seattle Mariners, New York Yankees and the Miami Marlins. His career spanned 28 seasons. Ichiro won two World Baseball Classic titles as part of the Japanese national team. He also became the Mariners’ special assistant to the chairman in 2019. Ichiro is regarded as one of the greatest leadoff hitters, contact hitters and defensive outfielders in baseball history. He was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2025.
