Tom Glavine is a Hall of Fame pitcher known for his impressive career, primarily with the Atlanta Braves. His career spanned 22 seasons, and he was known for his masterful command and a devastating changeup that made up for a lack of overpowering velocity.

Glavine’s career began with the Atlanta Braves, where he played from 1987 to 2002. He then signed with the New York Mets, playing for them from 2003 to 2007, before returning to the Braves for a final season in 2008.

Glavine was a key part of the Braves’ historic pitching rotation in the 1990s, alongside fellow Hall of Famers Greg Maddux and John Smoltz. He was a 10-time All-Star, won the National League Cy Young Award twice (in 1991 and 1998), and was named the World Series MVP in 1995 when the Braves won their championship. In 2007, while pitching for the Mets, Glavine reached the prestigious milestone of 300 career wins, becoming just the 23rd pitcher in MLB history to do so.

He was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2014 in his first year of eligibility, receiving 91.9% of the vote.

Did You Know?  While his rotation mate Greg Maddux was celebrated for tactical efficiency, Glavine was the ultimate old-school winner, anchoring the Atlanta Braves’ historic 1990s dynasty through sheer, unyielding durability.

Glavine became the definitive gold standard for starting pitchers by accomplishing a feat that has become incredibly rare in the modern game: capturing 20 or more wins in five separate seasons (1991–1993, 1998, 2000). His peak individual recognition arrived in 1991 when he engineered a spectacular 20-11 record with a 2.55 ERA, earning his first National League Cy Young Award. He repeated the honor in 1998 with another dominant 20-win masterpiece, proving that his surgical, corner-painting style could consistently neutralize the most explosive offenses of the era.
