Aaron Boone is a notable figure in Major League Baseball, known both for his 12-season playing career, highlighted by a historically significant home run, and his subsequent tenure as a manager.
Aaron Boone was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in 1994 and made his MLB debut in 1997. He missed the entire 2004 season after tearing an anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during a pickup basketball game, which was a violation of his standard MLB contract.
In Game 7 of the 2003 American League Championship Series (ALCS) against the rival Boston Red Sox, Boone hit a walk-off home run in the 11th inning off pitcher Tim Wakefield. This home run gave the Yankees a 6–5 victory, clinching the American League pennant and sending the Yankees to the World Series.
After working as a baseball analyst, Boone was named the manager of the New York Yankees prior to the 2018 season. He is known for consistently guiding his teams to strong regular-season records.
Aaron Boone shares this multi-player “Prospects” card with Gabe Alvarez & Kevin Orie.
