José “Jose” Vidro is a former professional baseball player who primarily played second base. He was a switch-hitter who played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Montreal Expos/Washington Nationals and the Seattle Mariners from 1997 to 2008.
Vidro was drafted by the Montreal Expos in 1992 and played for them and the Washington Nationals from 1997 to 2006. He then played for the Seattle Mariners from 2007 to 2008. He was a three-time All-Star, making the team in 2000, 2002, and 2003. Vidro won a Silver Slugger Award in 2003.
Vidro was known for his hitting ability, particularly his consistent contact and his ability to hit for a high average. He was also praised for his defense and leadership. After his playing career, he remained involved in baseball, coaching kids in a summer league tournament in Puerto Rico.
