Butch Huskey is an American former professional baseball player who primarily played as an outfielder in Major League Baseball (MLB) from 1993 and then from 1995 to 2000.
He played for five different teams during his seven-season MLB career:
- New York Mets (1993, 1995–1998)
- Seattle Mariners (1999)
- Boston Red Sox (1999)
- Minnesota Twins (2000)
- Colorado Rockies (2000)
Huskey had his most productive season in 1997 with the New York Mets, where he posted a .287 batting average with 24 home runs and 81 runs batted in (RBI).
Huskey was one of the players allowed to continue wearing number 42 after Major League Baseball retired the number league-wide in honor of Jackie Robinson in 1997. He had been wearing it prior to the retirement and was “grandfathered” in.
