Joseph Edward Collins (born Joseph Edward Kollonige) was a Major League Baseball player who spent his entire 10-year career (1948-1957) with the New York Yankees.
Over his career, Collins played in 908 games, accumulating a .256 batting average with 596 hits, 86 home runs, and 329 RBIs. His best season was in 1952, when he batted .280 with 18 home runs, 120 hits, 69 runs scored, and 59 RBIs. He was also a strong defensive player, posting a .990 fielding percentage primarily at first base, but also seeing time in the outfield.
A significant part of Collins’ career was his involvement in the Yankees’ dominant teams of the late 1940s and 1950s. He participated in seven World Series and was a part of six World Series championship teams (1949, 1950, 1951, 1952, 1953, and 1956).
