While Swift led the league in ERA in 1992 (2.08), his 1993 season was a workhorse masterpiece. He and teammate John Burkett became the first pair of Giants to win 20 games in the same season since 1968 (Marichal and McCormick).
Swift was famous for his heavy sinker, which induced a massive amount of ground balls and kept his home run rates remarkably low (only 18 HR allowed in over 230 innings in 1993).
He was a standout on the 1984 U.S. Olympic team that featured Mark McGwire, Will Clark, and Barry Larkin.
