Dan Gladden, known as “The Dazzle Man,” was the quintessential spark plug of the late 80s and early 90s Twins. While his regular-season stats were solid, he is etched into baseball history for his postseason heroics and aggressive baserunning.
Gladden is one of the few players to win World Series titles with the Twins in both 1987 and 1991.
1987 World Series: In Game 1 against the Cardinals, he hit the first World Series grand slam in 17 years, setting the tone for the entire series.
1991 World Series: He scored the winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning of Game 7—widely considered one of the greatest games ever played—after stretching a broken-bat blooper into a double.
After his MLB career, he went to Japan and won the 1994 Japan Series with the Yomiuri Giants, making him a three-time champion across two continents. Since 2000, he has remained a fixture in Minnesota as a radio broadcaster for the Twins.
