Tommy Lasorda’s baseball career is a tale of two halves. He had a brief playing stint overshadowed by a legendary managerial career. As a player, Lasorda was a left-handed pitcher who had limited success in the Major Leagues. He only appeared in 26 games for the Brooklyn Dodgers (1954-1955) and the Kansas City Athletics (1956). However, his true impact came as a manager, most notably for the Los Angeles Dodgers from 1976 to 1996. During his 20 seasons at the helm, Lasorda led the Dodgers to two World Series championships (1981, 1988), four National League pennants, and eight division titles, cementing his reputation as one of baseball’s most passionate and successful leaders. He was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1997.
