Albert Bringhurst “Al” Schroll was a right-handed pitcher whose professional career spanned the late 1950s and early 1960s. Nicknamed “Bull,” Schroll played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for four seasons, taking the mound for several different franchises.
His journey in the big leagues began with the Boston Red Sox, where he pitched during the 1958 and 1959 seasons. Schroll was then part of a three-team year in 1959, also making appearances for the Philadelphia Phillies. In 1960, he moved to the National League to play for the Chicago Cubs. He finished his MLB tenure in 1961 as a member of the expansion Minnesota Twins.
Over his 35 appearances, Schroll compiled a 6–9 win-loss record with an Earned Run Average (ERA) of 5.34. He totaled 118.0 innings pitched and recorded 63 strikeouts. A notable highlight of his time came with the Twins in 1961 when he and teammate Jack Kralick both managed to hit home runs in the same game—a truly rare and memorable achievement for two pitchers.
