Don Drysdale, nicknamed “Big D,” was a star right-handed pitcher who played his entire 14-year Major League Baseball career (1956-1969) with the Brooklyn and Los Angeles Dodgers. Standing at 6 feet 5 inches, he was known for his intimidating presence on the mound and for a sidearm fastball that led him to hit 154 batters.
He won the Cy Young Award in 1962 after posting a 25-9 record and was a nine-time All-Star. He was a key member of the Dodgers teams that won three World Series championships in 1959, 1963, and 1965. He was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1984
