Robert “Bob” Dale Talbot was an American professional baseball player who had a brief but notable career in Major League Baseball (MLB). Talbot played for the Chicago Cubs for two seasons, in 1953 and 1954 primarily as an outfielder. Before reaching the majors, Talbot had a lengthy minor league career, playing for several years in the Cubs’ farm system. He played a significant stint with the Los Angeles Angels of the Pacific Coast League. His major league career was cut short due to injuries.
Talbot debuted in the major leagues on September 16, 1953, with the Chicago Cubs. Interestingly, he started in his first game alongside future Hall of Famer Ernie Banks, who also debuted that day.
