Did You Know?  After a decade as the face of the Boston franchise, Boggs made the unthinkable jump to the arch-rival New York Yankees in 1993. While the move stunned New England, it ultimately provided Boggs with the one crowning achievement that had eluded him in Boston: a World Series ring.

During the definitive Game 6 of the 1996 World Series against the Atlanta Braves, the Yankees clinched the championship on their home grass. In the middle of the chaotic, emotional postgame celebration at Yankee Stadium, Boggs pulled off one of the most unexpected, joyous moments in New York sports lore. He hopped onto the back of a New York City Police Department horse, donned an official NYPD cap, and took a roaring, triumphant victory lap around the entire perimeter of the field, cementing his legacy as a champion on both sides of baseball’s greatest rivalry.
