Candiotti enjoyed a durable 16-season career (1983–1999), playing for the Milwaukee Brewers, Cleveland Indians, Toronto Blue Jays, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Oakland Athletics.
He was a mainstay of the Cleveland rotation in the late 1980s. In 1986, he led the American League with 17 complete games, a staggering number by modern standards.
The Dodger Years (1992–1997): Candiotti found great success in Los Angeles, where his knuckleball paired well with the pitcher-friendly environment of Dodger Stadium. He posted a career-low 3.12 ERA in 1993. Unlike many knuckleball pitchers who rely solely on the flutterball, Candiotti also possessed a legitimate curveball and a serviceable fastball, which he used to keep hitters off-balance.
He has remained highly visible in the sport as a long-time radio and television analyst, currently working for the Arizona Diamondbacks.
