Kevin Seitzer had a 12-season career in the big leagues, primarily as a third baseman. He was known for his high on-base percentage and ability to spray hits to all fields.
Seitzer played for a number of teams including Kansas City Royals, Milwaukee Brewers, Oakland Athletics, and Cleveland Indians.
His rookie year with the Royals was historic. He led the American League with 207 hits and finished second in the Rookie of the Year voting to Mark McGwire in 1987. He is a 2-time MLB All-Star (1987, 1995) and was inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame (2017) and the Eastern Illinois University Athletics Hall of Fame.
After retiring, Seitzer transitioned into coaching, where he has earned a reputation for helping players refine their approaches at the plate. He has served as the hitting coach for the Arizona Diamondbacks, Kansas City Royals, and Toronto Blue Jays. He spent a decade in Atlanta, where he was a key architect of one of the most explosive offenses in baseball. He helped lead the Braves to a World Series title in 2021 and oversaw the development of stars like Ronald Acuña Jr. and Ozzie Albies.
Following his long tenure in Atlanta, he joined the Mariners staff to work alongside franchise legend Edgar Martinez (Senior Director of Hitting Strategy). He co-owns a popular baseball and softball training facility in Kansas City with former teammate Mike Macfarlane.
