Bill Bene was a right-handed pitcher known for having a “lively arm” but struggling with extreme control issues. He is often cited as one of the most notable “draft busts” of his era due to the disparity between his high draft selection and his professional performance.
Despite his high draft status, Bene never reached the Major Leagues. He spent his entire professional career in the minors, playing for various affiliates of the Dodgers and later in independent leagues.
