Juan González, nicknamed “Juan Gone,” was a powerful baseball outfielder who played in Major League Baseball for 16 seasons. He is most recognized for his time with the Texas Rangers.
He played for the Texas Rangers (1989–1999, 2002–2003), Detroit Tigers (2000), Cleveland Indians (2001, 2005), and Kansas City Royals (2004).
González was a two-time American League MVP, winning the award in both 1996 and 1998 with the Texas Rangers. He was selected as an All-Star three times (1993, 1998, 2001). He earned the Silver Slugger Award six times (1992, 1993, 1996–1998, 2001). He led the American League in home runs twice (1992 and 1993) and in RBIs once (1998).
He is also a member of the Texas Rangers Hall of Fame and the Caribbean Baseball Hall of Fame.

Did You Know? While González captured his first AL MVP in 1996 by hitting 47 home runs and driving in 144 runs, his absolute individual statistical peak arrived during a historic 1998 regular season. González came out of the gate on a record-shattering pace, attempting to do what no modern hitter had achieved since Hack Wilson in 1930: reach 100 RBIs before the All-Star break.
He fell just short of the mythic mark but entered the break with a staggering 101 RBIs in 88 games, capturing the imagination of the entire baseball world. He finished the brilliant 1998 campaign batting .318 with 45 home runs, 50 doubles, and a league-leading 157 RBIs, easily capturing his second American League MVP Award in three years.
