Overview of 1992 Leaf Baseball Cards
The 1992 Leaf baseball card set is a popular and well-regarded release from the “junk wax” era of card collecting. Produced by Donruss, the set is known for its high-quality photography, clean design, and a few key rookie cards.
Set Structure: The 1992 Leaf set is divided into two series, each containing 264 cards, for a total of 528 base cards in the complete set. The cards feature a distinctive design with silver borders and black accents. The set is notable for its excellent action photography, a hallmark of Leaf’s releases from that period.
Variations and Parallels: The 1992 Leaf set is known for a few key variations and insert sets that add to its collectability:
Black Gold: The set includes a full parallel set called “Black Gold.” These cards are an all-black foil version of the base cards and were inserted one per pack. They are a popular parallel and can hold value for key players.
(Rookiecardprices.com only shows values for regular base set cards. No prices are shown for errors, parallels, subsets, misprints or other cards unless noted.)
Gold Leaf Rookies: This 24-card insert set, with a checklist split between the two series, features gold foil on the card and is where the most valuable rookies from the set, such as Pedro Martinez and Kenny Lofton, can be found.
The 1992 Leaf set is a favorite for collectors who enjoy the look and feel of cards from this era. The quality photography, distinct design, and chase for the key rookies and parallels make it a fun and affordable set to collect.
