Pat Listach is a former professional baseball shortstop, coach, and manager. His playing career spanned six seasons in Major League Baseball, but he is best known for his impressive rookie season and his subsequent long career as a coach and manager in both the major and minor leagues.
Drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in 1988, Listach made his MLB debut in 1992. That season was the highlight of his playing career, as he won the American League Rookie of the Year award. He was the first player for the Brewers to win the honor.
Unfortunately, knee problems and injuries limited his effectiveness in subsequent seasons, and he never duplicated his rookie success. He played for the Brewers until 1996 and then spent his final season in 1997 with the Houston Astros.
After retiring from playing, Listach transitioned to coaching and has held numerous positions at various levels of professional baseball.
