Mike Lansing is a former professional baseball second baseman who played in Major League Baseball (MLB) from 1993 to 2001. Nicknamed “the Laser,” he played for the Montreal Expos, Colorado Rockies, and Boston Red Sox.
Lansing’s career spanned nine MLB seasons. He had his best years with the Expos, where he played from 1993 to 1997. His most notable season was in 1997, when he hit a career-high 20 home runs and had 70 RBIs. That same year, he became the first National League second baseman since 1894 to hit two home runs in the same inning.
After his time in the majors, Lansing was signed by the Cleveland Indians in 2002 but retired after suffering a back injury. A baseball stadium in Casper, Wyoming, is named in his honor.
