Tim Salmon is a former professional baseball player who played his entire MLB career with the California/Anaheim/Los Angeles Angels from 1992 to 2006. Nicknamed “King Fish,” he was an outfielder and designated hitter.

Salmon won the 1993 AL Rookie of the Year award unanimously, becoming only the fourth American League player to do so at the time. He was a key member of the Angels team that won the franchise’s first World Series title in 2002. He had a career-high .330 batting average in the 1995 season winning a Silver Slugger Award.

Salmon was inducted into the Angels Hall of Fame in 2015. At the time of his retirement, he held the Angels’ franchise record for most home runs with 299, a record that has since been surpassed.

Did You Know?  After a spectacular minor league campaign in 1992 where he was named Minor League Player of the Year, Salmon arrived in the big leagues full-time in 1993 and immediately treated American League pitching like a veteran craftsman.

He authored one of the most dominant rookie campaigns in franchise history, batting a stellar .283 while smashing 31 home runs and driving in 95 runs. He added a massive .918 OPS and drew 83 walks, showcasing an incredibly mature approach that earned him a unanimous sweep of the 1993 American League Rookie of the Year Award. He instantly stabilized a rebuilding Anaheim lineup, signaling the arrival of a new franchise cornerstone.
