Kevin Millwood anchored several Major League rotations across 16 seasons, carving out a reputation as a durable workhorse and a formidable postseason starter. He debuted in 1997 with the Atlanta Braves, joining a legendary staff that featured Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine, and John Smoltz.
Millwood reached his professional ceiling in 1999. He won 18 games, posted a 2.68 ERA, and earned his only All-Star selection. That same year, he famously threw a one-hit shutout against the Houston Astros in the National League Division Series.
In 2003, after a trade to the Philadelphia Phillies, Millwood achieved one of baseball’s rarest feats. On April 27, he threw a no-hitter against the San Francisco Giants, cementing his place in Phillies lore.
Throughout his tenure, Millwood donned the uniforms of six different franchises:
