Julio Franco had an exceptionally long and accomplished career in professional baseball, playing for 23 seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB) and also spending time in Japan, Mexico, and South Korea. He is known for his longevity and having many records as one of the oldest players in the MLB.
Franco was an All-Star 3 times (1989, 1990, 1991). He won Silver Slugger Awards 5 times (1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1994). Julio was the AL Batting Champion 1991 (.341 batting average) and the All-Star Game MVP: 1990.
Franco’s career also extended beyond MLB, contributing to his over 4,200 professional hits across various leagues, placing him in an elite group of players with such a high hit total. He played in Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB), South Korea’s KBO League, and the Mexican League.
