Graig Nettles had a long and successful 22-season career in Major League Baseball (MLB), primarily as a third baseman, from 1967 to 1988.
Nettles played for several teams throughout his career: Minnesota Twins (1967–1969), Cleveland Indians (1970–1972), New York Yankees (1973–1983), San Diego Padres (1984–1986), Atlanta Braves (1987) and Montreal Expos (1988). He hit 390 career home runs, which was the 24th most in baseball history at the time of his retirement. In 1976, he led the American League with 32 home runs.
Graig Nettles was a key member of the New York Yankees teams that won back-to-back World Series championships in 1977 and 1978. He was named the 1981 ALCS MVP, batting .500 with 9 RBIs in the series. He was also selected to the All-Star team six times (1975, 1977–1980, 1985).
After his playing career Nettles had coaching stints with the Yankees and Padres.
