Reggie Jackson, often known as “Mr. October” for his clutch postseason performances, was one of baseball’s most iconic sluggers and personalities. His major league career spanned 21 seasons, from 1967 to 1987.

Jackson played for the Kansas City / Oakland Athletics (1967–1975, 1987), Baltimore Orioles (1976), New York Yankees (1977–1981), and California Angels (1982–1986).

He earned his famous nickname due to his exceptional performance in the World Series. Most notably, in Game 6 of the 1977 World Series, he hit three home runs off three different pitchers in the deciding game, cementing his legendary status. He was the first player to hit five home runs in one World Series.

Jackson was a part of five World Series-winning teams: three with the Oakland Athletics (1972, 1973, 1974 – though he missed the 1972 World Series due to injury) and two with the New York Yankees (1977, 1978). He retired with 563 career home runs, ranking him among the top hitters in baseball history. He led the American League in home runs four times (1973, 1975, 1980, 1982).

A few of his awards include; American League Most Valuable Player (MVP) in 1973. Two World Series MVP Awards (1973, 1977). Two Silver Slugger Awards (1980, 1982) and a 14-time American League All-Star.

He was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1993 in his first year of eligibility.

Reggie Jackson’s rookie card is this 1969 Topps #260 and is considered by many collectors to be one of the most important rookie cards of the era. As a highly collectible card of a Hall of Famer, its value can vary significantly based on its condition.
