George Bernard “Dave” Koslo was a left-handed pitcher in Major League Baseball )MLB) whose career spanned parts of 12 seasons (1941-1942, 1946-1955). He is primarily known for his time with the New York Giants and for his pivotal role in one of baseball’s most famous seasons. Koslo spent the bulk of his career with the Giants. Like many players of his era, his career was interrupted by military service in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Koslo played a significant role in the dramatic 1951 season for the New York Giants, which culminated in the famous “Shot Heard ‘Round the World” by Bobby Thomson. Koslo was the winning pitcher in Game 1 of the 1951 World Series against the New York Yankees, defeating the formidable Allie Reynolds.
