Alvin Dark first played pro NFL football for the Philadelphia Eagles before focusing on his baseball career. He won the 1948 National League Rookie of the Year Award and went on to earn many other awards. He played for a variety of teams including Oakland Athletics, Cleveland Indians and San Diego Padres to name a few. He finished his baseball career as a manager and a long list of titles.
