Harold Reynolds is a former professional baseball player and a well-known television sports commentator. He is most recognized for his 12-year career in Major League Baseball and his subsequent, award-winning career in broadcasting.
Reynolds played in the MLB from 1983 to 1994, spending most of his career (10 seasons) with the Seattle Mariners. He also played for the Baltimore Orioles and the California Angels.
A switch-hitting second baseman, Reynolds was known for his speed and defense. Two-time American League All-Star (1987, 1988). Reynolds is a three-time Gold Glove Award winner for his defensive excellence at second base (1988-1990). He led the American League in stolen bases in 1987 with 60, becoming the only player other than Rickey Henderson to lead the AL in steals during the 1980s. He was honored with the prestigious Roberto Clemente Award in 1991 for his humanitarian work and community service.
After retiring from baseball, Reynolds transitioned to a successful career in sports broadcasting. He has won several Emmy Awards for his work. He began his broadcasting career with ESPN in 1996 as a lead studio analyst on Baseball Tonight but was let go in 2006. Since 2009, he has been a prominent analyst on the MLB Network, providing commentary on MLB Tonight and other special events. He also spent time as a game analyst for Fox Sports, working alongside Joe Buck.
