Drafted in the 4th round of the 1986 MLB June Draft out of Florida State University by the California Angels, Paul Anthony Sorrento was a menacing, power-hitting first baseman and designated hitter.

Traded to Minnesota in 1989, Sorrento broke in with the Twins before blossoming into a middle-of-the-order slugger for Cleveland, Seattle, and Tampa Bay. Over a 10-season Major League career (1989–1999), he launched 166 home runs, recording four consecutive 20+ home run campaigns during the mid-to-late 1990s peak of high-octane offense.

Sorrento served as a primary left-handed power threat for two iconic 1990s lineups: Mike Hargrove’s Cleveland Indians and Lou Piniella’s Seattle Mariners.

1991 World Series Champion: Earned a championship ring as a bench bat and mid-season call-up for the 1991 Minnesota Twins, hitting 4 home runs in limited regular-season action.

1995 Cleveland Indians Offense: Anchored first base for the juggernaut 100-win 1995 Cleveland Indians, hitting 25 home runs with 79 RBIs in just 104 games (posting a high .536 slugging percentage) to help push Cleveland to the AL Pennant.

Seattle Mariners Career Highs: Joined Seattle’s star-studded lineup alongside Ken Griffey Jr., Jay Buhner, and Alex Rodriguez, crushing 23 home runs with 93 RBIs in 1996, followed by a career-high 31 home runs with 80 RBIs in 1997.

Historical Tampa Bay Franchise Milestone: Signed with the inaugural 1998 Tampa Bay Devil Rays, hitting the second home run in franchise history.
