Todd Helton is a former American professional baseball first baseman who played his entire 17-year career for the Colorado Rockies of Major League Baseball (MLB). He was a five-time All-Star, a four-time Silver Slugger Award winner, and a three-time Gold Glove Award winner.
In the year 2000, Helton won the MLB batting title with a .372 average. That same year, he also led the league in RBIs with 147. In addition to his hitting prowess, Helton was recognized as an exceptional defensive first baseman, winning three Gold Glove Awards (2001, 2002, 2004).
Helton was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2024. The Colorado Rockies retired his jersey number, 17, in 2014, making him the first player in franchise history to receive this honor.
Before his professional baseball career, Helton was a standout multi-sport athlete. He was a quarterback at the University of Tennessee, where he was a teammate of Peyton Manning. After a knee injury, he focused on baseball and was named the Dick Howser Trophy winner in 1995 as the top collegiate baseball player in the country.
