Selected 43rd overall in the 17th round of the 1993 MLB Draft by the Atlanta Braves out of Cosumnes River College (CA), Jermaine Trevell Dye was an elite, five-tool outfield force defined by a cannon arm, explosive power, and unwavering big-game clutch hitting.
Over 15 Major League seasons (1996–2009) with the Braves, Royals, Athletics, and White Sox, Dye smashed 325 career home runs, drove in 1,072 runs, earned two All-Star selections, a Gold Glove Award, a Silver Slugger Award, and World Series MVP honors.
Dye transitioned from a top Braves prospect into an All-Star run-producer in Kansas City and Oakland, before cementing his legacy as a Chicago sports icon.
2005 World Series MVP with Chicago: Served as the heart and soul of the “Win or Die Trying” 2005 Chicago White Sox, who swept the Houston Astros to end an 88-year World Series championship drought. Dye was named World Series MVP after batting .438 with a home run and driving in the series-clinching, game-winning run in Game 4.
44-HR Monster Campaign (2006): Followed up his World Series MVP with a career year in 2006, crushing 44 home runs and driving in 120 RBIs while batting .315 with a .622 slugging percentage to win the AL Silver Slugger Award and finish 5th in AL MVP voting.
1999 All-Star & Gold Glove Season: Broke out as a star with the Kansas City Royals in 1999, launching 27 home runs and 119 RBIs while capturing his first Rawlings Gold Glove Award for his elite right-field defense and outfield arm.
“Moneyball” Oakland A’s Engine (2001–2004): Acquired by Oakland in 2001, Dye provided crucial middle-of-the-order power alongside Miguel Tejada and Eric Chavez during the A’s iconic 103-win and 20-game winning streak eras.
