Brian Jordan is a former two-sport professional athlete, excelling in both baseball and football. While he had a short but notable career as a safety in the NFL, he is best known for his long and productive career as a Major League Baseball outfielder.
Jordan’s MLB career spanned 15 seasons (1992–2006) with four different teams: the St. Louis Cardinals, Atlanta Braves, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Texas Rangers. Jordan spent his first seven seasons with the Cardinals, establishing himself as a reliable and productive outfielder. His best season with the team came in 1998, when he set career highs in runs scored (100), hits (178), and batting average (.316).
In 1999, Jordan signed a significant contract with the Braves. That year, he earned his only MLB All-Star selection, setting career highs with 115 RBIs and helping the Braves reach the World Series. He returned to the Braves for the final two seasons of his career.
Brian Jordan is a notable figure in sports history as one of the few modern athletes to have a significant career in both the NFL and MLB, a feat often associated with the likes of Bo Jackson and Deion Sanders. Following his playing career, he has worked as an Emmy-winning sports analyst for Fox Sports South. He has also been inducted into several state Halls of Fame, including those in Virginia, Georgia, and Missouri.
