Cornelius Clifford “Cliff” Floyd Jr. is a former Major League Baseball left fielder who had a 17-season career from 1993 to 2009. Known for his power and speed, he was a productive player, but his career was also marked by a number of injuries.

Floyd made his major league debut with the Expos in 1993 and played with them for several seasons before being traded. His most notable stint was with the Florida Marlins, with whom he won a World Series championship in 1997. During his time with the Marlins, he was named to his only All-Star team in 2001.

Throughout his career, Floyd played for seven different teams, including the Expos, Marlins, Boston Red Sox, New York Mets, Chicago Cubs, Tampa Bay Rays, and San Diego Padres. He was a versatile player who started his career as a first baseman before transitioning to the outfield. He finished his career with a .278 batting average, 233 home runs, and 865 RBIs.

After retiring from playing, Floyd began a second career as a baseball analyst, appearing on MLB Network and Sirius XM Radio.

Did You Know?  By 1993, Floyd had completely conquered the minor leagues, terrorizing pitchers with a lethal mix of raw power and elite speed. He was named the consensus Minor League Player of the Year by The Sporting News and Baseball America, drawing heavy, astronomical comparisons to an absolute inner-circle icon like Willie McCovey.

He made his highly anticipated big league debut with the Expos in late 1993 at just 20 years old, helping spark a young Montreal core. In 1994, he took over as the everyday first baseman for an Expos squad that put together the best record in Major League Baseball before the tragic strike halted play, leaving fans wondering what heights that young roster could have truly climbed.
