Carl Everett is a former American Major League Baseball outfielder and switch hitter who played for eight teams over a 14-year career. Known for his power and speed, Everett was a two-time All-Star and a key member of the 2005 Chicago White Sox World Series championship team.
He had some of his most productive seasons in the late 1990s and early 2000s. In 1999 with the Houston Astros, he hit .325 with 25 home runs and 108 RBIs. The following year with the Boston Red Sox, he set a career high with 34 home runs and 108 RBIs. As the starting designated hitter for the Chicago White Sox in 2005, Everett played a crucial role in their World Series victory.
Everett was known for his outspoken and at times controversial beliefs. He received the nickname “Jurassic Carl” after stating his belief that dinosaurs never existed, citing the lack of their mention in the Bible and suggesting that fossils were man-made fakes. He also reportedly questioned the validity of the moon landing. His on-field temperament sometimes led to confrontations with umpires, resulting in suspensions and fines.
