Drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the 7th round of the 1987 MLB Draft out of Spartanburg Methodist College (SC), Reginald Laverne “Reggie” Sanders was one of the premier 30-30 power-speed threats and postseason outfield anchors of his era.
Standing 6’1″ and weighing 190 lbs, Sanders played 17 Major League seasons (1991–2007) across stints with eight franchises: the Reds, Padres, Braves, Diamondbacks, Giants, Pirates, Cardinals, and Royals. Over 1,777 career games, he crushed 305 home runs, stole 304 bases, scored 1,037 runs, and drove in 983 RBIs. He remains one of only eight players in Major League history to join the exclusive 300 Home Run / 300 Stolen Base Club.
Sanders established himself as an elite run producer in Cincinnati before turning into one of the most reliable veteran postseason outfield bats in baseball history.
2001 World Series Champion: Served as the everyday right fielder for the Arizona Diamondbacks, launching a career-high 33 home runs with 90 RBIs and 14 stolen bases during the regular season. He added two home runs in the postseason to help Arizona defeat the New York Yankees in 7 games.
300-300 Club Milestone: Joined Willie Mays, Barry Bonds, Bobby Bonds, Andre Dawson, Steve Finley, Carlos Beltrán, and Alex Rodriguez as one of eight players to reach 300 HRs and 300 SBs.
1995 All-Star Peak Season: Finished 6th in NL MVP voting and earned an NL All-Star nod in 1995 after batting .306 with 28 home runs, 36 doubles, 99 RBIs, and 36 stolen bases for the Cincinnati Reds.
